 Psychology's Role in Mathematics and Science Education
This document represents the work of the Presidential Task Force on Mathematics and Science, appointed by Sharon Stephens Brehm, PhD, 2007 President of the American Psychological Association. The paper is an elegantly described survey of psychology's contributions to mathematics and science education at the PreK-12 level. We also present responses to the paper from our members representing Division 15, Educational Psychology (Rayne Sperling, PhD), Division 16, School Psychology (Gary Stoner, PhD), TOPSS, Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (Laura Maitland, PhD), and Deans of Schools of Education (Jane Conoley, PhD). Mathematicians and mathematics educators explore connections between culture, creativity and the learning and teaching of mathematics
On February 29 to March 1, 2008, the University of Haifa, and the Israel Institute of Technology, in partnership with the John Templeton Foundation, convened a workshop of mathematicians and mathematics educators to explore the connections between culture, creativity, and the learning and teaching of mathematics. In attendance were 28 leading scholars and educators from 14 countries.

The Center for Psychology in Schools and Education (CPSE) promotes the high quality application of psychology to programs and policies for schools and education. The office serves as a liaison both within APA and with national educational and scientific societies, federal agencies, and the general public concerning the education and development of children and adolescents.

The Other 3 Rs: Reasoning, Resilience, and Responsibility
The Other 3 Rs Project, sponsored by the James. S. McDonnell Foundation, has been completed. This project involved the collaboration of the American Psychological Association, Montgomery County Public Schools and Vanderbilt University and was initiated through the efforts of Robert J. Sternberg when he was president of the American Psychological Association in 2003.
The third grade curriculum, promoting the teaching of Reasoning, Resilience and Responsibility, has been successfully piloted in the Montgomery County, Maryland Public Schools and is available on our website.
