| Commission for Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies in Professional Psychology (CRSPPP) 2000 Annual Report (CRSPPP) 2000 Annual Report
Current membership of CRSPPP for 2001: Arthur Kovacs
(Chair), Jack Plummer (Past Chair), Linda Campbell, Elena Eisman, John Linton,
William MacLeod (Public Member), Lynn Rehm, Reuben Silver, Vicki Vandaveer,
Laura Barbanel (Board of Directors Liaison). The following activities were conducted in 2000: CRSPPP held its annual meeting, April 7-8, 2000, where it
acted upon a petition for specialty recognition submitted on behalf of
Behavioral Psychology. CRSPPP forwarded to the Board of Directors and the
Council of Representatives motions to formally confirm the recognition of
Behavioral Psychology as a specialty in professional psychology. Petitions were received in 2000, including a petition for
recognition of Psychopharmacology as a proficiency; the public notice period
for comments began on June 1, 2000. Several petitions for the recognition of
specialty were also received during the year 200. A petition for recognition
of Forensic Psychology as a specialty was received; the public notice period
for comments began on September 1, 2000. A petition for recognition of Family
Psychology as a specialty was received; the public notice period for comments
began on October 2, 2000. The upcoming meeting, on April 27-29, 2001 will be
an opportunity to process these petitions in accordance with CRSPPP criteria
and procedures. CRSPPP held an Open Forum during the 2000 APA Convention
and the Fall Consolidated Committee Meetings. CRSPPP participated in January and October 2000 meetings of
the Council of Credentialing Organizations in Professional Psychology. A self-study of the first five years of experience of CRSPPP was produced and provided for comment to interested parties during the year 2000. Over the next year, based on the self-study outcomes, proposed revisions of the criteria and procedures, as necessary, will be developed and widely circulated for comment, with the presentation to the Board of Directors and Council of Representatives for action. Dr. Jack Plummer, completed his term as chair, and Dr. Arthur Kovacs was elected to begin his term in 2001. |
