Education DirectorateEducation Government Relations Office
The Education Government Relations Office works on a variety of education-related issues, including pre-K through high school education; undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral education; and federal programs that support the psychology workforce, such as the National Health Service Corps and Graduate Psychology Education Program.
Activities include congressional briefings and testimony, educating psychologists in how to advocate for psychology both locally and nationally, and educating politicians on the contributions of psychology to matters of public policy.
Policy Areas
APA advocates for the inclusion of psychological research in education policy to help students, teachers and school districts.
APA advocates for doctoral study in psychology and the application of psychological research to improve student outcomes.
APA advocates for federal programs that support the interprofessional education and training of psychologists.
