The Assessment CyberGuide for Learning Goals and Outcomes

Task Force on Undergraduate Psychology Major Competencies
Board of Educational Affairs
American Psychological Association

PREFACE

The Task Force on Undergraduate Psychology Major Competencies produced this Assessment CyberGuide to help psychology departments and their faculty in their quest to craft the most appropriate and effective assessment plans. The production of the document followed the approval by the Board of Educational Affairs of the American Psychological Association of the Learning Goals and Outcomes, April, 2002.
The guide is divided into four parts:

  1. Understanding Assessment
  2. Designing Viable Assessment Plans
  3. Sustaining an Assessment Culture
  4. Applying Assessment Strategies in Psychology

We are taking advantage of the flexibility of the medium to provide links to the full texts of some articles that are classic references in the field of assessment. Otherwise, the recommendations and insights provided have been derived from the collective experience and scholarship of the members of the Task Force.

Members of the Task Force include:
Jane S. Halonen (Chair), James Madison University,
Drew C. Appleby, Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis,
Charles L. Brewer, Furman University
William Buskist, Auburn University,
Angela R. Gillem, Arcadia University,
