The Healthy Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Students Project has conducted a comprehensive needs assessment of school counselors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers to help develop education and training activities related to LGB youth and health. The first needs assessment component consisted of interviews of practitioners, faculty of professional training programs, and administrators with supervisory responsibilities for practitioners. Staff of the Healthy LGB Students project interviewed 23 individuals who were selected by the project's collaborating organizations as representative's of the professional field. A small project team of four Healthy LGB Students Project staff members (including two at the doctoral level) reviewed the interview transcripts and identified 17 themes that emerged out of the qualitative data. The themes were subsequently grouped by three categories. These themes were then used in the development of the school health survey. Go to interview report (PDF format) free download
