CGEP collaborated with Dr. Frances Horowitz, Professor at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY), and Dr. Dona Matthews, Director of CUNY’s Hunter College Center for Gifted Studies and Education, to organize a Scholar Forum held on December 12, 2005, in New York City. The goal of the forum was to engage developmental psychologists in accounting for giftedness in their research within various developmental stages. This effort is an additional endeavor by CGEP to build bridges between psychologists and researchers in giftedness and talent.

Four papers were commissioned from scholars, to which four gifted education experts responded.  Developmental psychologists' papers describe their individual theories, how these theories account (or could account) for giftedness, as well as implications for identification and education of the gifted and talented. Papers, responses, and highlights of conference discussion are in the process of organized into a book possibly published by APA.

More information will be made available as scholars continue to commit to the forum.
