Faculty and Student Development

Several organizations provide general information and resources for faculty and students who are interested in broadening the learning experience, including the addition of service-learning and civic engagement activities.

The Society for the Teaching of Psychology (STP) provides general resources and information about the teaching of psychology from secondary through graduate level. It promotes teaching excellence, research on teaching, and professional identity and development.

Psychology Teachers at Community Colleges (PT@CC) provides resources for community college teachers, and sponsors an electronic project contest for student work and a teaching tips contest for innovative instructional techniques.

Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS) provides resources and hands-on material for teaching psychology in high schools. It publishes the Psychology Teacher Network, a regularly published journal on teaching psychology.

Psi Chi is the national honor society in psychology for 4-year institutions of higher education. Its purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology.

Psi Beta is the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges. Its mission is the professional development of psychology students through the promotion and recognition of excellence in scholarship, leadership, research, and community service.
