APA/Clark University Workshop for High School Teachers
July 21-23, 2008
Clark University, Worcester, MA

Sponsored by the American Psychological Foundation (APF) Lee Gurel Fund, APA, and Clark University.

The American Psychological Association (APA) Education Directorate and Clark University are pleased to announce the fourth annual APA/Clark University Workshop for High School Teachers, sponsored by the American Psychological Foundation (APF) Lee Gurel Fund, APA, and Clark University.  The workshop will be held July 21-23, 2008 at Clark University in Worcester, MA. This three-day workshop will feature sessions for high school psychology teachers, including sessions on the history of psychology.  Participants will be provided with many activities to be taken back and used in the classroom.

Clark University has played a prominent role in the development of psychology as a discipline in the United States, and was the birthplace of APA in 1892.  Clark University psychology professors (see http://www.clarku.edu/~psydept/) will present at the July workshop. Presenters will also include Jeanne Blakeslee (St. Paul’s School for Girls, Brooklandville, MD) and Tack Chace (Shrewsbury High School, Shrewsbury, MA), both members of the APA Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS). Stephen M. Kosslyn, PhD, of Harvard University will deliver a keynote address on Imagery Engineering: Designing Presentations to Facilitate Subsequent Mental Imagery of the Material during the Workshop

The workshop will be open to 25 high school teachers.  There will be few, if any, associated costs for the participants.  Participants will be provided with travel reimbursement (up to $100), meals, and housing.  There is no registration fee.  To apply, please complete the application form below and mail it to Jewel Beamon at the APA address.  Applications may also be sent via fax.  The application deadline is April 15, 2008.  Participants will be selected and notified by May 1, 2008, or shortly thereafter.
