APA/Clark University Workshop for High School Teachers

The American Psychological Association (APA) Education Directorate and Clark University are pleased to announce the third annual APA/Clark University Workshop for High School Teachers, sponsored by the American Psychological
Foundation (APF) Lee Gurel Fund and Clark University. The workshop will be held July 9-11, 2007 at Clark University in Worcester, MA. This three-day workshop will feature sessions on clinical and developmental psychology and the history of psychology, as well as sessions on active learning activities. Participants will be provided with many activities to be taken back and used in the classroom. We invite all teachers of high school psychology to apply for this great opportunity.
Clark University has played a prominent role in the development of psychology as a distinguished discipline in the United States, and was the birthplace of APA in 1892. Clark University psychology professors (see http://www.clarku.edu/~psydept/) will present at the July workshop. Presenters will also include APA Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS) members Amy House of Astronaut High School (Titusville, FL) and John Lewis of Spaulding High School (Barre, VT). A keynote address will be given by Charles Brewer, PhD of Furman University (Greenville, SC).
The workshop will be open to 25 high school teachers. There will be few, if any, associated costs for the participants. Participants will be provided with travel reimbursement (up to $100), meals, and housing. Participants will visit the Clark University Archives, where they will be able to view original historical materials. The APA/Clark University workshop will be a wonderful professional development and networking opportunity!
