There will be up to three annual awards. Teachers of high school psychology who are self-nominated or nominated by a colleague, supervisor, student or administrator are eligible.

APA TOPSS Scholars Competition Announced
The APA Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS) is pleased to announce the topic for the 2008 APA TOPSS Scholars Competition. Submissions must be postmarked by March 3, 2008. There will be three winners, each of whom will receive a $500 award.

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair was held May 8-13, 2005. APA is one of several organizations that recognize students competing in the behavioral and social sciences category. The effort is funded and organized through the Education Directorate.

The TOPSS Committee looks for nominees for three positions: Chair, responsible for promoting pre-college teaching leadership, Secretary/Editor, to serve as Contributing Editor for the Psychology Teacher Network (PTN), and Membership Coordinator, who serves as a liaison between college and high school teachers, the regional coordinators and TOPSS Committee.

Awards for the APF/APA TOPSS Excellence in High School Student Research Awards are: $1,500 first place; $1,000 second place; $500 third place; and $250 fourth place. Three APF/APA TOPSS Scholars Essay Competition winners will each be awarded $1,000.
