APA's Science Directorate is sponsoring an Academic Career Workshops program nationwide for psychology graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The workshops-headed by expert panelists-focus on such issues as academic cultural variations across institutions and the pragmatics of academic recruiting and hiring.

Recent workshops were held at the annual meetings of the Society for Research in Child Development in April and the Western Psychological Association this month. Another is planned for the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Annual Meeting in October, and others are in the works.
