The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications for its Graduate Research Scholarship in Psychology Program, which is co-sponsored by the Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology (COGDOP). The program offers 11 $1,000 stipends, one $3,000 award for the top application through the Ruth G. and Joseph D. Matarazzo Scholarship and one $2,000 award through the Clarence J. Rosecrans Scholarship. APA's Science Directorate administers the scholarships. Any graduate department of psychology that is a member of COGDOP may submit nominations. Interested applicants must be enrolled in an interim master's program or doctoral program and can contact their psychology department for nomination information.

Each application packet must include 5 copies of:

  • A completed application form obtained from the student's department or available at

  • A letter of recommendation from the nominee's graduate research adviser that does not exceed 3 pages

  • An outline of the nominee's thesis or dissertation research project, even if in progress, which does not exceed 3 pages

  • A transcript of all graduate coursework completed by the nominee and a curriculum vitae

The application deadline is May 28.

Awardees will be notified in September.
