Grants & Division Awards

APA International Scientific Meetings Support Fund
This fund provides support for scientific activities that foster the exchange of knowledge among psychologists across the world. 

Frances M. Culbertson Travel Grant
This grant is funded by the American Psychological Foundation. Supports women from developing countries in the early stages of their careers by providing travel funds to attend international regional conferences in psychology.

David Travel and Research Grants
This grant is funded by the American Psychological Foundation. It supports research activities or travel to participate in an international or regional congress.

APA Travel Grants for International Conferences
This award covers or partially covers registration fees for international conferences.

APA Travel Grants for International Affiliates
This award covers registration fees at the APA Annual Convention for international affiliates.

Outstanding International Psychologist Awards for Division 52
These awards give recognition to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to international psychology either through significant research, teaching, advocacy, and/or contributions to international organizations.


Opportunities for Work Abroad

Cattell Sabbatical Award 
These awards supplement the regular sabbatical allowance provided by the recipients home institution to allow an extension of leave time from one to two semesters.

Fulbright Scholars Program (CIES)
This program sends US faculty and professionals abroad to lecture and conduct research (Traditional  Program) and provides short term academic opportunities for faculty and professionals (Senior Specialists Program). 

IREX Short Term Travel Grants 
Fellowships for up to 8 weeks to US postdoctoral scholars for indepdnetn of collaborative research projects in Europe and Eurasia.

IREX US Embassy Policy Specialist Program
Program for US senior scholars to conduct research while serving as experts to a US embassy or consulate. Selected countries/topics.

Jefferson Science Fellows
Tenured academic scientists and engineers from U.S. institutions of higher learning spend one year at the U.S. Department of State for an on-site assignment in Washington, D.C. that may also involve extended stays at U.S. foreign embassies and/or missions. Assignments involve providing up-to-date expertise in the rapidly advancing STE arenas that routinely impact the policy decisions encountered by the U.S. Department of State.

Institute of International Education (IIE)
The IIE is an independent, non-profit organization that in its own words, is "the world's most experienced global higher education and professional exchange agency." It administers the Fulbright program, NATO conferences, travel initiatives and has extensive programs for students. The goal is  to promote closer educational relations between the people of the US and other countries.

International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX)
IREX is an international nonprofit organization specializing in education, independent media, Internet development, and civil society programs. Through training, partnerships, education, research, and grant programs, IREX develops the capacity of individuals and institutions to contribute to their societies.
