Addressing APA's Role in International Quality Assurance for Psychology Education and Training

COMMENT ON THE REPORT

In 2007 APA asked the Board of Education Affairs (BEA) and the Committee on International Relations in Psychology (CIRP) to appoint a task force to develop advice for APA on issues in international quality assurance for psychology education and training, especially as it relates to professional practice.

The Task Force met in December, 2007. Following this meeting the Task Force prepared a report that includes a description of the current state of quality assurance for education around the world and models for quality assurance, and that discusses the possible ways that APA might be active in this arena. The draft report of the task force is titled: BEA/CIRP Task Force on APA’s Role in International Quality Assurance: APA As a Learning Partner

This report has been reviewed by the Task Force and by the appointing board/committee. They have requested that APA now invite comment from the broad constituencies that are concerned with international issues in quality assurance. You are invited to review the document and to submit comments via a public website dedicated to this purpose at http://apaoutside.apa.org/EducCSS/Public. The comment period is open from 30 July 2008 – 30 September 2008. Only comments submitted via the public web format will be considered in revisions of the draft task force report.
