Quality Assurance for Psychology Education and Training in an International Context: APA’s Role

Introduction:

In response to international trends in the development of psychology, the development of quality assurance mechanisms for education generally, and increased calls for reciprocity in recognition of education and training across country borders , APA developed a policy outlining ways it might interact internationally in quality assurance issues. The policy was developed on the basis of an APA Task Force report that surveys existent quality assurance mechanisms in place internationally and that outlines the range of possible roles that a psychology organization might play in the development or implementation of mechanisms for quality assurance in the international arena.
