The Executive Council of EFPA (European Federation of psychologists’ Associations) selected Professor
Norbert Schwarz, PhD as the recipient of the Wilhelm Wundt-William James Award 2009. The Award,
established by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations and the American Psychological
Foundation, is a special recognition for distinguished contributions to the science and profession The Wundt-James Award Selection Committee stated “Professor Norbert Schwarz is a German
psychologist working in the United States and his career is the embodiment of enhancing and
consolidating scientific collaboration between European and North American colleagues. Dr. Schwarz’s
publications attest to his exceptional scholarly contributions. Not only has he been very prolific and
influential but also his work spans diverse research areas. Dr. Schwarz has published 18 books (some translated into several
languages). He has published more than 150 peer reviewed articles in top journals of psychology and a similar number of Dr. Schwarz will be presented with the award at the biennial meeting of the congress of the European Federation of Psychology
Associations (EFPA) and will speak at the opening ceremony of the European Congress of Psychology in Oslo, Norway on
