International I-O psychology and the United Nations

The Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology (SIOP - APA Division 14) held its 22nd annual meeting (April 27-29, 2007) in New York City. This was the largest meeting in its history, with 4,100 IO psychologists filling the Marriott Marquis Hotel. One theme of the SIOP meeting was global I-O psychology. This programming included a symposium on "International I-O psychology: Growing roles at the United Nations. In this symposium 11 I-O and consulting psychologists briefly reviewed the growing role of I-O psychology in international issues in such areas as teaching, research, service, and advocacy; and described the activities of psychology within NGOs at the United Nations.
