Information Architect/User Experience Designer

The American Psychological Association, the largest organization of psychologists in the world, is seeking a junior Information Architect/User Experience Designer to join our Web site team as part of a large-scale Web site redesign and beyond.

Job description

Major responsibilities include:

  • Developing personas and scenarios to inform the design process
  • Articulating user experience issues, concerns and overall design principles to stakeholders
  • Collecting statistical data, including site traffic and search data, to analyze user behavior patterns that drive IA and usability improvements
  • Maintaining the integrity of the primary site IA and developing new IA for APA’s annual convention site
  • Drafting and recommending policies and standards for ongoing development of APA Web sites
  • Setting priorities and schedules for improvement to APA sites
  • Recommending and conducting user surveys and testing as needed

Job qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Usability Design, Information Architecture or related field. The successful applicant will have one or more years of information architecture experience with a business or nonprofit entity.
  • Ability to develop wireframes, user flows, personas and content object models
  • Advanced skill with Visio and familiarity with Web analytics software
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
