Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of/in marketing and/or sales field; preferably in a journals publishing environment.
- Background in direct response and analysis as well as market research (both qualitative and quantitative).
- Experience with management of outside market research suppliers, familiarity with market research techniques, and the ability to analyze and synthesize research data.
- Experience in hiring, training, and supervising subordinates.
- Must possess knowledge of and/or experience with circulation auditing processes.
- Knowledge of design, printing, email, and mailing methods
- Proficiency with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint), and familiarity with the Web is required. Knowledge of and experience in Web applications (e.g. HTML) is desirable.

Description:
- Responsible for the creation, management, and execution of comprehensive annual strategic marketing plans for the APA journals product line in order to help meet or exceed target annual revenue goals.
- Manages the journals marketing budget and allocates budgeted monies to execute annual marketing plans.
- Responsible for all internal and external marketing communications relating to the journals product line. Devises and manages execution of promotional campaigns to meet marketing objectives through a variety of promotion channels, including direct mail, electronic promotions, advertising, publicity, and product collateral. Evaluates/reports regularly on response rates/revenue generated relative to budget monies expended.
- Exercises hiring/firing/supervisory authority over Assistant Marketing Manager position.
- Acts as primary marketing contact with subscription agents to establish regular channels of communication, exchange market and product information on a timely basis, and engage in co-marketing initiatives.
- Manages creation of product promotional plans for professional and library conferences.
- Manages creation of customer communications for use by subscription agents and APA Service Center staff.
- Using internal and external resources, manages market research process for journals products, organizes focus groups, and analyzes/synthesizes research and customer data to inform product development, positioning, pricing, and sales projections for existing products and new initiatives (such as new products, new publishing partnerships, etc.). Gathers competitive intelligence.
- Travels to professional/library conferences and vendor offices.
