Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy is a scholarly journal devoted to furthering the understanding of traumatic events, their impact, and trauma-related disorders. The readership has a broad range of backgrounds, interests, and specializations, often interdisciplinary in nature.

- critical reviews and meta-analyses
- advances in theory
- and treatment innovations and applications
Integrative papers that address themselves to a broad constituency are particularly welcome.
- biopsychosocial aspects of trauma
- role of trauma in contributing to poor physical health and problems in psychological adjustment
- methods used in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of those who have experienced traumatic events
- ways to prevent or attenuate the immediate or long-term impact of traumatic events on individuals who experience them and the responders who care for them
- frameworks for understanding trauma-related issues that will be useful in informing public policy
Such papers should constitute a substantive contribution to the professional literature on psychological trauma.
- Original, Theoretical, and Empirical Contributions
These manuscripts include an abstract; an introduction reviewing relevant literature; a detailed description of the study methods; full presentation of the results; and a brief discussion, including the study's strengths, limitations, implications for future research and potential practical applications; and references.
- Brief Communications
Shorter articles of 5–7 pages, with abstracts optional and references.
- Articles on Clinical Practice
Includes case studies, commentaries, process and program descriptions, clinical audit and outcome studies, and the presentation and description of original clinical practice ideas (optimally with theoretical foundations included) for debate and argument.
- Invited Reviews
Plans for proposed reviews are invited in draft outline. The editors will commission reviews on specific topics.
- Letters to the Editor
Letters and responses pertaining to articles published in Psychological Trauma or on issues relevant to the field, brief and to the point, should be prepared in the same style as other manuscripts.
