Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the Manuscript Submission Portal.

The file format should be Portable Document Format (.pdf), Rich Text Format (.rtf), or in Microsoft Word Format (.doc). The file must exactly copy, in all respects and in a single file, the complete APA-style printed version of the manuscript.
Each copy of a manuscript should include a separate title page with author names and affiliations. Author identification notes should be typed only on the title page.
In addition to mailing addresses and phone numbers, please supply e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and fax numbers for potential use by the editorial office and later by the production office.
Keep a copy of the manuscript to guard against loss.
The mission of the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied is to publish original empirical investigations in experimental psychology that bridge practically oriented problems and psychological theory.
The editorial policy of the Journal favors publication of integrative articles containing multiple experiments and extensive theoretical development. However, articles reporting single experiments are also appropriate, so long as they report compelling data with a clear theoretical message.
In addition, occasional literature reviews advancing our knowledge in the field will also be considered.
For further information on content, contact the Editor
Wendy Rogers.
The default review policy for the Journal is unmasked review. However, authors can request a masked review. They should note their preference in a cover letter and make sure that their identity is not revealed elsewhere in the manuscript.
In an effort to encourage development of scientific expertise of junior researchers, the Journal has developed a student review program. Reviewers may invite an editor-approved advanced graduate or postdoctoral student to prepare independent "parallel" reviews. Such parallel reviews may be used in addition to (but not as a replacement for) the normal review process.
As appropriate, these reviews will be specially tagged and furnished to the authors. Student reviewers will be acknowledged for their reviews in the Journal at the end of the year. Please inform the editor if you wish to involve a student in the review process.
For the other JEP journals, authors should submit manuscripts according to the manuscript submission guidelines for each individual journal:
When one of the editors believes a manuscript is clearly more appropriate for an alternative journal of the American Psychological Association, the editor may redirect the manuscript with the approval of the author.
