Practice Assessment

Back to Associates Description

In addition to their APA dues, APA members who are licensed psychologists providing services in the health or mental health fields, or who supervise those who do, must pay the practice assessment.

The Practice Assessment is paid directly to the APA Practice Organization, a companion organization created by APA to promote the mutual professional interests of practicing psychologists in all settings. The APA Practice Organization advocates for practitioners in legislatures, courts, the media, and the marketplace. Practice Assessment payers also gain access to a variety of products, services, and information -- including the many resources available at APApractice.org.

Licensed Members, Fellows, and Associate Members who must pay the Practice Assessment include those who:

  • Provide ANY health-related services or who supervise those who provide such services, whether those services are provided on a fee-for-service basis or through employment (e.g., state hospital, VA, or CMHC), or
  • Have made their interest in providing direct health-related services public (e.g., advertisement on the Internet, in Yellow Pages, or printed announcement of practice), or
  • Are listed in any national register or directory of health service providers in psychology.

Contact the Membership Department for more information.

For information about your assessment dollars at work, see the homepage for the APA Practice Organization .
