APA Fellow Informational Materials
Manual for Nominating Fellows of APA (PDF, 421 KB): Becoming an APA Fellow recognizes outstanding contributions to psychology and is an honor valued by many members. This manual describes the history of the term "Fellow," the nomination process, the primary basis for the nomination, the role of endorsers, and criteria.
Division Criteria: In addition to the criteria set forth by APA, some divisions have additional criteria. Divisions 5, 6, 10, 21, 28, 33, and 34 do not have additional criteria.
Procedures for Fellow Status Nominations in Multiple Divisions: If you are a Current Fellow in one division and would like to become a Fellow of another division, you follow a different process. This page details the process.
Helpful Information For Endorsers: Endorsers are encouraged to provide very strong, concrete details when writing endorsements for Fellow status. This document suggests language that can be used when instructing endorsers.
