Any member who has reached the age of 65 and has belonged to the APA for a total of 25 years, may choose to begin a dues-reduction schedule,
culminating in Life Member status and exemption from APA dues.
The dues reduction schedule is as follows:
| Step 1 (first year) |
90% of basic dues |
| Step 2 (second year) |
70% of basic dues |
| Step 3 (third year) |
50% of basic dues |
| Step 4 (fourth year) |
30% of basic dues |
| Step 5 (fifth year) |
full dues exemption |
This status must be requested in writing. Life Member status is not related to retirement and is not retroactive to cover unpaid prior years'
dues.
Life Members may order journals at the same low rate as dues paying members.
Life Members are required to pay a publications and servicing fee if
they wish to receive the Monitor and American Psychologist. The fee also helps offset the cost of providing basic membership services. When full dues exemption
is attained, the subscription price/servicing fee option becomes available.
If you would like more information regarding eligibility for Life Member status, please contact the APA Membership Department.
