Div. 17 holds 2008 International Counseling Psychology Conference

The 2008 International Counseling Psychology Conference sponsored by APA's Div. 17 (Society of Consulting Psychology) opens March 6 with a keynote panel of international leaders. Andres Consoli, president of the Sociedad Interamericana de Psicologia, will facilitate a dialogue among leaders from Africa, Asia and Europe. He will be joined by Nhlanla Mkhize, PhD, professor and department head of the University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa; Maria Eduarda Duarte, PhD, professor and chair of psychology and education faculty, Universidade de Lisboa, and president of the Portuguese Psychological Society; and Div.17 President Li-fei Wang, PhD, professor at National Taiwan Normal University.

Other keynote speakers include Sandy Shullman, managing partner at the Executive Development Group, an international leadership development and consulting firm, and Nancy Boyd Franklin, PhD, professor at Rutgers University in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. Div. 20 and Div. 40 introduce Parkinson's Disease Research award

Div. 20 (Adult Development and Aging) and Div. 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology) announce the inaugural Walter G. McMillen Memorial Award for Parkinson's Disease Research. PhD students are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a five-page research proposal that will be judged by the divisions' members. The winner will receive$1,000 to offset costs associated with the proposed research. Apply for Div. 48 Peace Psychology Editorships

Div. 48 (Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict, and Violence) invites applications for editors of:

The Peace and Conflict: Journal of Peace Psychology.

The Peace Psychology newsletter.

The www.peacepsych.org Web site.

The journal editor sets journal policy, appoints associate editors and members of the editorial board, receives manuscripts and proposals for special issues and arranges for their review,makes final decisions about rejection or publication and ensures timely submission of journal issues to the publisher. The editor communicates with the publisher about subscriptions and marketing.

The newsletter editor is responsible for the content, preparation and distribution of the society's newsletter twice per year (spring/summer and fall/winter). This includes soliciting items for publication, editing contributions, approving layout and facilitating mailing.

The Internet editor is responsible for maintaining the division's home page; coordinating the content, functionality and appearance of all Web sites within the www.peacepsych.org domain; and moderating the division's listservs.

All positions report to the Div. 48 Publications Committee and Executive Committee.
