Early-Career Psychology

Student loans and other debt continue to be a major challenge for early career psychologists. According to the Early Career Psychologists Survey report, PsyDs had almost double the mean debt levels when compared with PhDs and EdDs. Psychologists under age 30 had the most debt. APA members tended to have lower mean debt levels than nonmembers. By subfield, family and clinical neuropsychologists had the highest debt levels.
