Psychology is growing rapidly in China, and the CPS delegation, including Yufang Yang (president), Kan Zhang (past president), Buxin Han (deputy secretary-general) and Xiaolan Fu, came to Washington to discuss with APA models of psychology association activities. The two-day meeting began with a briefing by the Chinese delegation about psychology in China and discussion with APA’s Executive Management Group about how the different facets of APA work. The delegation held further conversations with staff from APA’s directorates and offices.
APA’s Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Psychological Society, its ninth with national psychology associations, opens the door to collaborations between the two organizations. Preliminary discussion focused on models of continuing education, disaster response and public education.
