Join the fun at APA's 2002 Annual Convention as outstanding psychologists compete against APAGS graduate students for glory and not-so-valuable prizes in this lightning-fast game where the contestants provide the questions to answers about psychology. Mark your calendar now for this special event, chaired by Diane Halpern, PhD, of Claremont McKenna College, on Friday, Aug. 23, from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
You too may participate in Psychology Jeopardy by contributing answers and questions of varying difficulty levels for the competition on APA's Web site. Please visit www.apa.org/convention/jeopardy/homepage.html to submit your toughest (and not-so-tough) general psychology trivia challenges for this event. Be prepared to supply a proposed Jeopardy-style category with five answers and questions and a reference for each answer/question pair.
For instance--Category: Phobias; Answer #1: Xenophobia; Question #1: What is the fear of strangers or foreigners?; Reference: Psychology, Zimbardo, Weber, & Johnson (2000), p. 508. Another example--Category: Books and Their Authors; Answer #1: Walden Two; Question #1: Who is B.F. Skinner?; Reference: Essentials of Psychology, Rathus (1994), p. 424.
A brief reference is necessary to confirm the correct question for each answer, in the case of a dispute--a page number from a psychology textbook or journal article, the author's name and year of publication will suffice. A panel of judges will be present to arbitrate, if necessary. Don't forget to submit your solution in the form of a question! Your contribution will be acknowledged if your answers and questions are used in the competition.
