APA's Education Directorate has expanded the Web site for its annual Education Leadership Conference (ELC) to include streaming video, photo galleries and slide presentations from past ELC conferences. These new features make up the directorate's new ELC Media Center, found at www.apa.org/ed/elc/elcmediahome.html.

Presentations from future ELC conferences--held each fall to discuss how the field can contribute to K-12 and higher education generally as well as to the education and training of future psychologists--will be added over time, says Hunter Clary, the directorate's communications officer.

ELC Media Center visitors can watch video of select conference presentations as well as listen to audio recordings of other sessions while viewing presenters' PowerPoint slides.

Two 2003 ELC sessions are available in streaming video:

* Edward Sheridan, PhD, of the University of Houston, Susan Sclafani, PhD, of the U.S. Department of Education, and Lee Fritschler, PhD, of George Mason University at the keynote session on accountability and assessment.

* APA President Diane F. Halpern, PhD, on assessing the fundamentals of psychology at the undergraduate level.

Several 2003 sessions are available with audio and PowerPoint:

* Eugene Rice, PhD, of the American Association of Higher Education, on changing context of education from a focus on faculty to a focus on learning.

* I. Leon Smith, PhD, of the Professional Exam Service, on assessing competencies and methodologies used in the health professions.

* Anthony Errichetti, PhD, of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, on a program that uses standardized patients--actors trained to simulate health and mental health conditions--to teach and assess clinical skills.

* Lisa Towne of the National Research Council on the role of psychologists in scientific educational research.

* Robert Floden, PhD, of Michigan State University, on psychological research on teacher quality.

The media center also includes speaker biographies, links to Monitor on Psychology articles about the conferences and a photo gallery of conference sessions and participants.

The Education Directorate is also using the streaming video and audio technology for its new APA Online Academy, which offers continuing-education credits to psychologists at www.apa.org/ce.
