SilverPlatter Information Inc., a producer and distributor of CD-ROM products for APA, has recently made three separate donations to the American Psychological Foundation (APF) totaling $15,000: One in honor of Raymond D. Fowler, PhD, APA chief executive officer, "for his 15 years of distinguished service to the association;" and two donations in memoriam of former APA journal editors Nelson Butters, PhD, and Ursula Delworth, PhD.
SilverPlatter is no stranger to supporting the mission of the APF. In 1993, the company made a $10,000 contribution when the Foundation launched its Corporate Affiliate Program to encourage financial donations from companies with a vested interest in the APA and in the advancement of psychology.
"APA and SilverPlatter have had a long and productive relationship, starting in 1986, when the association first launched PsycLit on CD-ROMs and SilverPlatter was the first and exclusive distributor," notes Gary VandenBos, PhD, executive director of the APA Office of Communications.
With regard to the three individuals recognized in the donations, VandenBos explains: "During the period of this fruitful relationship with SilverPlatter, Ray Fowler has been critical to APA's activities overall, and...both Nelson Butters and Ursula Delworth were tremendously devoted to their journals. It is particularly noteworthy that SilverPlatter was aware of their efforts and of their deaths and chose to recognize their contributions in this way."
