  APA chief executives
Print version: page 37

APA was founded in 1892, but it wasn't until 1946 that the association grew to such a size that a chief executive officer (CEO) was needed to manage its day-to-day functions. Before then, the business of the association was run by the secretary-treasurer out of his or her personal office. APA's former CEOs and the years they served are:

* Dael Wolfle, 1946-50

* Fillmore H. Sanford, 1950-56

* Roger W. Russell, 1956-59

* John G. Darley, 1959-62

* Arthur Brayfield, 1962-68

* Kenneth Little, 1969-75

* Charles Kiesler, 1975-79*

* Michael Pallak, 1979-85

* Leonard Goodstein, 1985-88

* Raymond D. Fowler, 1989-2002

*Dr. Kiesler died on Oct. 11. See Former CEO Kiesler died.
