Submit your favorite psychology jokes

Do you know a good joke about psychology or psychologists? APA's Div. 1 (Society for General Psychology) is sponsoring a contest to find the best psychology-related joke. The division will present awards and $100 checks to three winners at APA's 2006 Annual Convention in New Orleans, Aug. 10–13, at its symposium on humor. The three categories are best joke, best joke submitted by a student and best original cartoon. Further details are available on Div. 1's Web site at www.apa.org/divisions/div. Div. 17 implements strategic plan, welcomes new fellows

Div. 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) is implementing a new strategic plan that will focus the society's work for the next five years on three priorities. They are:

• Make significant contributions to diversity in the division, APA and society.

• Make strengths-based, developmental and contextual approaches more mainstream in psychology and associate them with Div. 17.

• Further the integration of science and practice in policy, advocacy and education.

Div. 22 announces rehabilitation psychology conference

Div. 22 (Rehabilitation) and the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology (ABRP) are co-sponsoring the Eighth Annual Rehabilitation Psychology Conference, March 3–5, in Reno, Nev. Speakers will present the newest developments in rehabilitation theory and practice. The conference will also feature an ABRP preparation workshop for people seeking professional certification in rehabilitation psychology. Workshop instructors will teach about the certification process, what to expect and how to most efficiently complete certification. There will also be mentoring sessions for candidates, an opportunity to ask specific questions related to their ABPP application and cases. Other highlights include student professional development sessions, a poster session with a student poster competition, and a return of the division's own band, Reel Goode & the Fo'phree.

Div. 53 seeks grant and award nominations

Div. 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology) seeks nominations for its 2006 annual grants and awards winners. The following awards will be presented at APA's 2007 Annual Convention, Aug. 17–20 in San Francisco. The awards and grants are:

• Distinguished Research Contributions Award.

• Early Career Faculty Research Award.

• Mid-Career Faculty Research Award.

• Graduate Student Research Training Grants.

• Junior Faculty Mentoring Award.

• Public Sector Grant.
