Education Leadership Conference
APA President Ronald F. Levant, EdD, presented veteran Furman University psychology professor Charles L. Brewer, PhD, with a presidential citation at ELC for his 43 years of service to psychology teaching. Brewer, a longtime pillar of the psychology education community, especially in teaching scholarship and advocacy, has served on APA's Board of Directors, on its Council of Representatives and multiple terms on its Board of Educational Affairs. He has also served as president of APA Divs. 1 (Society for General Psychology) and 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology) and is known for mentoring many psychology teachers and students, noted Levant. Brewer's past honors include the APA Award for Distinguished Career Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology and the American Psychological Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching of Psychology, which has since been named for him.
"Through this breadth of service, Professor Brewer has truly exemplified the APA Education Directorate mission of advancing psychology across all levels of education and the application of psychology to the same," said Levant.
