The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is accepting applications for a 1999 grant program that focuses on training in conflict management and the changing nature of diplomacy for Bosnia and for the Middle East. USIP requests research for pilot programs, conflict-specific strategies, unofficial peacemaking efforts and evaluations of modern international peacemaking and peacekeeping methods. The Irving B. Harris Fellowship in Child Development and Public Policy seeks applicants for a one-year master?s degree program in childhood development and policy research and analysis. The Family Research Consortium, a National Institute of Mental Health?sponsored program, requests nominations for six three-year postdoctoral positions beginning June 1. The College of the University of Chicago welcomes nominations for the Harper and Schmidt Instructorship, a three-year postdoctoral program specializing in the social sciences for the 1999?2000 academic year. The annual salary for instructors will be $33,500. Candidates who earn a PhD by June 30 will be considered. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae; three letters of recommendation; a writing sample of no more than 50 pages (preferably some portion of a dissertation); a two-page statement describing methods and goals for teaching a general education course; a cover sheet containing contact information, title of dissertation and the discipline in which the PhD will be awarded; and a self-addressed, stamped postcard to acknowledge receipt of materials. The American Association for the Study of Headache (AASH) is accepting applications for two 1999 Clinical Fellowships. The AASH/Glaxo Wellcome, Inc. Clinical Headache Fellowship and the AASH/Merck Clinical Fellowship Stipend award $40,000 and $20,000, respectively, to a researcher for 12 months of advanced clinical training in all aspects of headache diagnosis, management and prevention, and to pursue clinical research.
