Preprint journal articles available online

APA Online is offering researchers a new service to help them keep up with the latest findings in psychology. Members who subscribe to three of APA's journals-- Neuropsychology, Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology, Public Policy, and Law--will be able to read electronic versions of articles before these articles appear in print.

This new service will be expanded to the full line of APA and Educational Publishing Foundation (EPF) journals during 2001. This new feature will make the final, peer-reviewed version of articles available online to APA member subscribers before the print version is available.

Subscribers will also get an advanced look at upcoming articles while they are going through the production cycle, which can take four to 12 months from article acceptance to print.

Currently, the in-press service provides preprint articles about four months ahead of the print version. APA's goal is to have journal articles electronically available soon after they have been accepted for publication.

This service is free and is available only to APA member subscribers. In-press articles can be accessed by a link on each journal's home page (go to www.apa.org/journals for a complete listing).

Searchable video database now online

Searching for just the right video training film or lecture aid? Now there's one place you can go to find information on thousands of videos in psychology. APA Online has created a new online database, called PsycVIDEO, that is a fully searchable database of videos in psychology (www.psycinfo.com/psycvideo).

PsycVIDEO contains written summaries of 2,000 videotapes with psychological content, as well as contact information for each video's distributor. Videos can be searched by title or keyword.

PsycVIDEO is the expanded and updated electronic version of APA's popular print directory, "Videos in Psychology: A Resource Directory." An ideal tool for teachers, students, practitioners and trainers, the database will be updated regularly to include the latest films in psychology.

Videos in the database include educational films and documentaries; historical, biographical and autobiographical films; training films on therapeutic techniques for practitioners or students; and films featuring case studies and empirical studies.

Access to PsycVIDEO can be purchased on a yearly or daily basis and is available to APA members, non-members and institutions. APA members can purchase 24 hours of access for $4.95 or get discounted yearly access for $10 (yearly price for nonmembers is $30). APA members who purchase the Platinum package of APA e-products get free access to PsycVIDEO (go to http://members.apa.org/access for a list of e-products for members).
