Div. 6 (Behavioral Neuroscience and Comparative)

The Div. 6 awards committee seeks nominations for three awards:

* The D.O. Hebb Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award honors a psychologist who has made distinguished theoretical or empirical contributions to basic research in behavioral neuroscience and/or comparative psychology. The recipient is expected to present the D.O. Hebb Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award Lecture at the APA Annual Convention.

* The Clifford T. Morgan Distinguished Service to Div. 6 Award recognizes division members who have made sustained and exceptional contributions to the division. Recipients of this award are expected to have made a prolonged contribution in scholarly content and service to the division.

* The Brenda A. Milner Award recognizes an outstanding paper in the fields of behavioral neuroscience or comparative psychology, either published or in press, that is written by a Div. 6 member who is within five years of earning a PhD at the time of the submission deadline, Feb. 15. Although the paper may be co-authored, the applicant should be the senior author and the paper must represent the original work of the applicant. The paper must be in press or must have been published within the last five years. Nonmembers of the division may apply for membership at the time of nomination.

For all awards: Please submit the name and institutional affiliation of the nominee, plus a short (150 to 300 words) statement explaining why

he or she is deserving of the award. Nomination materials must be submitted by Feb. 15 either by e-mail to khollis@mtholyoke.edu or by mail to Karen Hollis, PhD, 50 College St., Department of Psychology, Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA 01075-1462.

Div. 7 (Developmental)

If you have a favorite developmental psychology book on your reading list, nominate it for the Eleanor E. Maccoby Book Award to be presented by Div. 7.

Books published in 2001 that have had or promise to have a profound impact on developmental psychology are eligible. Edited volumes are not eligible. Self-nominations are allowed. Please provide the title, full name(s) of the author(s), publisher, publisher's address, a brief description

of the book and a capsule summary of its importance for understanding the psychology of human development. Send nominations by Feb. 8 to Deborah Lowe Vandell, PhD, Department of Educational Psychology, 1025 W. Johnson St., University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI 53706, or by e-mail at dvandell@facstaff.wisc.edu.

Div. 13 (Society of Consulting Psychology)

Effective since mid-November, the division formerly known as Consulting Psychology has changed its name to the Society of Consulting Psychology.

According to Rodney Lowman, PhD, president of Div. 13, the change was made to "reflect the greater size and complexity of the organization." He says the name change will better reflect the division's broad scope and mission and believes the change will bring credibility to the division as a "multipurpose professional society that has training, professional practice and research purposes."
