A donation of $150,000 from the Psychological Corp. to the American Psychological Foundation's (APF) Campaign for a New Era has expanded APA's Congressional Fellowship program. The donation will enable the program--which places psychologists in the offices of members of Congress or congressional committees--to send an additional fellow with a background in testing, education or clinical psychology to Capitol Hill in 2003 and 2004.

"The Psychological Corp. understands and appreciates the potential impact that legislation will have on the practice of psychology--both in the school environment and in clinical practice," says Psychological Corp. President Aurelio Prifitera, PhD. "This fellowship will provide an invaluable opportunity not only to learn about the legislative impact on our profession, but also to contribute to the development of federal government policy that will model the practice of psychology in the future."

Prifitera, along with APF Trustee Joseph D. Matarazzo, PhD, former APA Chief Executive Officer Raymond D. Fowler, PhD, and APF Executive Director Elisabeth R. Straus, announced the gift at APA's Annual Convention in Chicago.

With this donation, The Psychological Corp. becomes a leading contributor to the foundation's campaign and a member of its New Era Platinum Society. APA's Congressional Fellowship Program is administered by APA's Public Policy Office and has sent 81 fellows to work in Congress since the program commenced in 1974. The Psychological Corp. was founded in 1921 by three APA past-presidents: James McKeen Cattell, PhD, Edward L. Thorndike, PhD, and Robert S. Woodworth, PhD. The company develops and distributes tests and products for professionals in psychology, health, business and education.
