Award honors Reed's counseling act support
Print version: page 78

On behalf of APA's Board of Educational Affairs, Jim Campbell, PhD, the University of Rhode Island's director of counseling services, presented Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) with an award in October honoring his commitment to addressing the growing need for mental and behavioral health services on college campuses. The award was presented on the Rhode Island campus. Reed introduced the Campus Care and Counseling Act, which was incorporated into the final version of the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act and signed into law in October. The bill authorizes $10 million in competitive grants to increase and improve mental and behavioral health services on college campuses.
