Since Y. Barry Chung first learned about counseling psychology as a college student in Taipei, Taiwan, he knew he had found his niche. And after deciding to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign he found what he says is a perfect fit within counseling psychology.
"I found my niche within my niche....I grew passionate about multicultural counseling and career development," he says.
As president-elect of the National Career Development Association, a division of the American Counseling Association that promotes lifelong career development, Chung aims to marry his two passions by emphasizing the need for the association to tend to multicultural career development.
Chung also aims to improve the multicultural climate of Georgia State's department of counseling and psychological services.
"We have a diverse student body, but our faculty is not that diverse," he says. "I hope to change that."
