Division spotlight Join the Div. 18 diversity task force or become a mentor Div. 18 (Public Service) has developed a task force to expand the diversity of its membership and increase the activity of division members from diverse backgrounds within the division and APA. The task force will encourage diverse individuals to take advantage of leadership opportunities as well. As one of its first initiatives, the Diversity Task Force has initiated a Div. 18 mentoring program that will pair students and early-career psychologists with seasoned psychologists. The division seeks mentors and mentees who are willing to participate in the program for at least one year. Div. 42 provides online assessment center Div. 42 (Independent Practice) is collaborating with CarePaths Inc. to offer independent practitioners free access to online outcomes assessments. Div. 42 members will be able to access the CarePaths online assessment center through a link from the members’ area of the Div. 42 Web site, www.division42.org. Pietrzak receives 2005 DeLeon Prize Div. 55 (American Society for the Advancement of Pharmacotherapy) selected Robert H. Pietrzak, a doctoral student in clinical psychology and neuropsychology at the University of Connecticut, as the recipient of the 2005 Patrick H. DeLeon Prize. This award recognizes Pietrzak’s review article, "Disordered gambling in adolescents: Epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment," which describes integrated psychopharmacological and psychological treatment approaches for problem and pathological gambling in adolescents. The article was published in Pediatric Drugs (Vol. 5, No. 9, pages 583–595). Div. 55 annually awards the DeLeon Prize for an outstanding paper, thesis or dissertation in the area of clinical psychopharmacology or prescriptive authority for psychologists. E. Packard |
