Science Leadership Conference

Taking psychological science to the masses
Print version: page 38

APA's first annual Science Leadership Conference took place Dec. 2–4, in Washington, D.C., and brought together 160 scientists and policy-makers to discuss ways of sharing psychological science with the general public. After meeting with journalists, the participants broke into groups to discuss such topics as "Psychological Science Under Attack" and "Psychologists as Media Producers." During the first day of meetings, some participants demonstrated how to make research findings palatable to mass audiences with a live broadcast on National Public Radio.

APA's Science Directorate established the annual conference to bring together leaders to pave the way for psychological science's future. To that end, participants also discussed emerging trends in science, such as increased interdisciplinary collaboration and data sharing. For more information, visit www.apa.org/science.
