Bray win's APA's presidential race |
Association news The American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2008. Look for celebratory activities and announcements on the APAGS Web site (www.apa.org/apags) and via the APAGS listservs (visit www.apa.org/apags/members/listserv.html to join). Over the past 20 years, APAGS has accomplished much in the way of advocating
for students and helping students to develop professionally. APA title wins Moonbeam Children's Book award "Full Mouse, Empty Mouse: A Tale of Food and Feelings" written by Dina Zeckhausen, PhD, and illustrated by Brian Boyd (APA/Magination Press, 2007) was voted the best book promoting awareness of childhood disease or special needs in the first annual Moonbeam Children's Book Awards. Zeckhausen, a psychologist, is founder of the Eating Disorders Information Network, a nonprofit organization devoted to preventing eating disorders. She says she wrote the book because there were no children's stories addressing the social, emotional and familial issues surrounding food and weight. "I wrote a simple poem about two mice, one who overate and one who understate, to cope with stress," she says. A total of 862 entries were received from authors and publishers in 45 U.S. states, six Canadian provinces and seven countries overseas.
