This site describes what qualifies as continuing professional education for psychologists (CE), explains the APA Sponsor Approval System for CE and lists APA's CE sponsors. Also offered is a calendar of CE workshops.

This University of Wisconsin site describes the research the HealthEmotions Research Institute is conducting on the relationship between positive emotions, the brain and human health. The research--a collaborative effort of the university's departments of psychiatry, medical physics, neurology and psychology, among others--seeks to shed light on how the biology of emotions influences disease prevention and resilience promotion.

Behavior Science, Humane Solutions (www.behavior.org)

This site from the nonprofit Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies explains ways to manage and change behavior in the home, school and workplace. Information geared for the lay public--parents, professionals and others--is written by behavioral scientists and includes references to the scientific literature. Another part of the site, "Beyond the Data," contains peer-reviewed commentary on news topics. The site also offers behavioral scientists a place to share resources, views and research.

National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (www.health.org/)

Visit this site for comprehensive information about substance abuse, including briefs about recent research, listings of substance abuse and AIDS-related conferences and links to treatment facilities. Also available are online discussion groups, online publications and descriptions of funding opportunities for researchers. The site is sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Behavioral and Social Sciences (www.nas.edu/subjectindex/soc.html)

This section of the National Academy of Sciences web site describes the academy's behavioral and social sciences program. It features related online reports on topics such as family violence and pathological gambling and describes the Program on Neuroscience and Behavioral Health and its committee work.
