APA encourages psychologists to host screening sites for the National Anxiety Disorders Screening Project (NADSP), which will be launched May 1 with National Anxiety Disorders Screening Day.
Freedom From Fear, a nonprofit mental health advocacy group that organizes the program, will provide screening site hosts with materials to publicize and conduct the program, which aims to educate and screen people and help them find appropriate treatment for anxiety and depressive disorders. Licensed psychologists and other health professionals who participate in the project will be placed on the Freedom From Fear referral network for one year to receive referrals for free screenings. A copy of the APA Practice Directorate's anxiety disorders fact sheet will be included in the materials distributed through the NADSP.
The annual fee for participating health professionals is $125. To obtain a registration form or information about the year-round referral network, call Jeanine Christiana at (718) 351-1717, ext. 21, fax (718) 667-8893 or visit www.freedomfromfear.org and click Screening Program for 2002. The deadline for registration is Feb. 19.
