If so, APA would like to honor your service. Many psychologists were honored last August at the APA Annual Convention.
As in previous American wars, hundreds of clinical psychologists gave much-needed and very effective care to millions of military personnel and their families during the Vietnam War. Some of those clients also needed, and continued to get, more help in the years after the war. Hundreds of other psychologists provided important research and consultative services. These services were of great value but, regrettably, it is no longer possible to identify each of the psychologists whose work deserved recognition and praise.
Since no listing of those who served in Vietnam is available, eligible APA members are asked to identify themselves.
You are eligible if you served in uniform and were awarded the Vietnam Service Medal or you served as a civilian for 30 consecutive days or 60 non-consecutive days.
If you served, nominate yourself. If you know of others who served, nominate them. If you know of someone who served but has since died, nominate that person and provide any information you can about a next of kin who can receive the recognition.
The following information is requested for each nominee:
* Full name and professional degree.
* Role: clinical, consultant, researcher or other.
* Mailing address.
* Year/month when Vietnam service began and ended.
* Status in Vietnam: Military (give final rank), civil service, contractor or other (specify).
*Phone number, fax number, e-mail address.
* Next of kin information if nominee is deceased.
Nomination materials should be sent to the President of Div. 19 (Military), Dr. Laurence, and also to the Division coordinator for this project, Dr. Nichols. Questions about the program should be directed to Dr. Nichols.
