Feature
The booklet is written for the general public, but particularly for teachers, students and researchers in other fields, to explain how behavioral and social science research has changed our way of life. Four areas are highlighted:
* Living better by design, offering information on ways human factors and ergonomics research have made our world safer and more user-friendly.
* Living happier, explaining the work of psychologists and others to better understand fear and emotional support.
* Living healthier, discussing research on pain, touch and our relationship with pets.
* Living together, providing information on violence prevention and memory research in the realm of criminal justice.
The book was created by APA as part of its involvement with the Decade of Behavior (2000-10), the multidisciplinary initiative that seeks to focus the talents, energy and creativity of behavioral and social sciences to meet society's most significant challenges.
