In Brief

Following the success of last year's continuing-education workshops and other offerings, the APA Office of Continuing Education (CE) in Psychology will offer an increased number of CE workshops at APA's Annual Convention in Honolulu, July 28-Aug. 1, and throughout this year.

Upcoming CE opportunities include:

  • A CE cruise among the Hawaiian islands, co-sponsored with Div. 20 (Adult Development and Aging), featuring presentations by Gregory C. Smith, EdD, Harvey Sterns, PhD, Susan K. Whitbourne, PhD, and Paul T. Costa, PhD, on the topic "Our aging selves: personal and professional explorations into human development."

  • A Clinical Health Psychology Institute--"Integrating Behavioral Health Services into Primary Care Settings"--at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu on July 27.

  • Approximately 50 workshops during convention and eight pre-convention CE workshops, co-sponsored with APA's Div. 12 (Society of Clinical Psychology).

  • The APA Online Academy, an online, multimedia learning center where CE courses are prerecorded, so there are no set class times. Participants may complete the course in one or multiple visits, as time permits. They can interact with current "classmates" and the course presenter via a message board. CE credits will be immediately available upon course completion.

  • CE sessions during the annual conferences of the National Association for Gifted Children and the American Bar Association.

  • Collaboration with regional and state associations to offer CE at a local level throughout the year.

For more information on any of the above, or to offer suggestions for improvement, new programs, or concerns, visit www.apa.org/ce, or contact the CE office at (800)-374-2721 x5991.
