Psychologist is CASE professor of the year in Arizona
Print version: page 79

Thomas V. McGovern, PhD, professor of psychology at Arizona State University West, has been selected as the 2003 Professor of the Year for the state of Arizona by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. McGovern was one of 47 winners, who were selected from a national pool of professors nominated by the leadership of their college or university, with supporting materials from colleagues and students.

The annual award recognizes professors for their dedication to teaching, commitment to students and innovative instructional methods. McGovern's work has focused on the history, theory and practice of teaching generally as well as the teaching of psychology specifically.

CASE announced the names of the four national and 43 state winners on Nov. 13 at a luncheon held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and the winners were honored at a Capitol Hill reception that evening.
