Div. 18 (Psychologists in Public Service) was formed in 1945 to provide a home for psychologists in government service and has since expanded to include psychologists who work for the Veterans Administration, state hospitals, police and law enforcement, state legislatures, community mental health systems, the Indian Health Service and other public service areas. The division has more than 1,000 members.

Its newsletter, Public Service Psychology, is sent to members three times a year. The first issue of its new quarterly journal, Psychological Services, will be published this spring.
