Consulting conference focuses on leadership roles

Div. 13 (Society of Consulting Psychology) will host its 12th annual mid-winter conference on consultation to corporations and businesses, "Leadership and trusted advisers," Feb. 5-8 in Pasadena, Calif. Keynote speakers include Chris Argyris, PhD, David Campbell, PhD, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, PhD, Susan Mohrman, PhD, Jag Sheth, PhD, and Alan Weiss, PhD. There will be pre- and post-conference workshops as well as 27 continuing-education credits available. For full session descriptions and registration information, visit www.apa.org/divisions/div13.

I/O division updates personnel selection guidelines

APA's Div. 14 (Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology) has revised its "Principles for the Validation and Use of Personnel Selection Procedures"--the division's official policy on how to conduct validation research in personnel selection.

The revised principles encourage greater accountability from test developers, test users and administrators, says Richard Jeanneret, PhD, who chaired the revision committee. He adds that these changes are timely because the use of testing in work-related settings is growing and becoming more influential in personnel decisions.

"At the same time, legal challenges have become more common, and the responsibility to demonstrate the validity of a test is greater than ever," he explains.

For more information on the revised principles and to order a copy, visit www.siop.org.

Rehabilitation division announces annual meeting, new student officer

Div. 22 (Rehabilitation) will host its sixth annual rehabilitation psychology conference March 5-7 in Seattle. The conference will address the latest in clinical care, research and education in rehabilitation psychology and offer continuing-education credits and workshops on earning the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology (ABRP) diploma. The conference has several student-oriented sessions, including a roundtable on training in rehabilitation psychology and a student poster session. The conference is co-sponsored by ABRP. For more information, visit www.apa.org/divisions/div22.

In addition, Div. 22 has appointed Erica Johnson, a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to the division's executive board as a voting student representative. Students interested in joining Div. 22 can contact Johnson via e-mail.
